Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Game 2 Result and Analysis
The Golden State Warriors ran away with Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night, winning 110-77 to take a 2-0 series lead.
Similar to Game 1, Golden State’s victory came via its stifling team defense and vastly superior depth. When it seemed like LeBron James had to do everything for the Cavaliers (19 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, four steals and seven turnovers), Golden State moved the ball around and got several of its players involved. The squad quickly stretched out an eight-point halftime lead into the double digits in the third quarter and then even bigger in the final period.
Draymond Green had the best game of any of the Warriors, pumping in 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists while making five of his eight three-point attempts. Andrew Bogut’s four first-quarter blocks set the tone, and Stephen Curry had a 7-of-11 shooting night for 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
One concern moving forward for the Cavaliers, besides figuring out how to score and get more of its players involved, is the status of Kevin Love. The star power forward suffered an elbow to the head in the first half and didn’t play most of the second half due to dizziness. The team is going through concussion protocol, per Fred McLeod, the Cavaliers’ official play-by-play announcer.
Game 3 will be in Cleveland on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET.
